The West End Health Foundation Awards Fall Programmatic Grant Recipients
The West End Health Foundation (WEHF) hosted a check presentation for the Fall Programmatic Grant awardees on November 6, 2023. The presentation took place at The Mather Inn in Ishpeming during the WEHF’s Business After Hours. The total funding allocated for the Programmatic Grants was $50,000.
The Board of Directors presented the following Programmatic Grants awardees with a check: Just Believe received $3,580 for sun safety/skin cancer awareness and prevention and sunscreen dispensers; Ishpeming-Negaunee-NICE Community Education Division received $5,220 for Beyond 26; Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes received $2,500 for The Girl Scout Leadership Experience in the West End; Ishpeming Cancer Society dba Cancer Care of Marquette County received $10,000 for patient care services; Upper Peninsula Hospice Association dba U.P. Hospice Foundation received $2,500 for hospice comfort programs; My Community Dental Centers received $10,000 for the Marquette Dental Services Expansion Program; Superior Child Advocacy Center dba Northern Lights CAC received $5,000 for forensic interviews and victim advocacy; Feeding America West Michigan received $10,000 for mobile food pantries on the West End; and Superior String Alliance (SSA) received $1,200 for health care and supplies.
The WEHF Programmatic Grant represents financial support provided to chosen organizations dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of the Marquette County West End communities. Depending on the funds available, grant amounts can vary between $1,000 and $10,000.
The Board of Directors also took the opportunity to award the Marquette County Cares Coalition (MC2) a sum of $19,755. This amount was raised during the 2023 Golf Classic that took place in September. MC2 is a coalition that is committed to promoting the healthy development of young individuals.
