West End Health Foundation Awards 2025 Proactive Grant to Great Lakes Recovery Centers
Ishpeming, MI – The West End Health Foundation (WEHF) has awarded its 2025 Proactive Grant to Great Lakes Recovery Centers (GLRC), presenting the organization with a $10,000 grant for its Workforce Enhancement Project during a check presentation held on July 8, 2025.
Each year, the Proactive Grant focuses on a specific health-related theme to support targeted, high-impact initiatives within the West End community. The 2025 theme emphasized the development of the future healthcare workforce. Great Lakes Recovery Centers was the only applicant whose proposal directly aligned with this year’s focus, resulting in their sole selection for this grant cycle.
“The theme of each Proactive Grant cycle is designed to reflect pressing community needs,” said Kori Bjorne, Secretary of the West End Health Foundation. “We’ve seen a growing number of requests around food security, and we want to give organizations the opportunity to respond to that need. That’s why the remaining $40,000 from this grant cycle will be rolled into a second round of Proactive Grants this fall, focused specifically on food security.”
The second Proactive Grant cycle will run September 1 through September 30, 2025, and will open concurrently with WEHF’s Programmatic Grant cycle. While the Proactive Grant will focus on food security, the Programmatic Grant will support programs that advance health and wellness in Marquette County’s West End.
Programmatic Grant awards typically range from $1,000 to $10,000, with a total of $50,000 in funding available. Both grant applications can be submitted through WEHF’s online submission portal at westendhf.org/grants. Please note: WEHF is using a new grant system, and returning applicants may need to create a new profile or request access to an existing organization to apply.
